What does Abundance Mean to you?

Updated: 3 days ago

How Feng Shui Can Attract Wealth and Abundance

When most people think of “wealth and abundance” in Feng Shui, they picture financial success like higher income, new opportunities, or material gains. While Feng Shui can certainly help with those, its true purpose goes far beyond that. Real abundance isn’t just about money; it’s also about emotional well-being, meaningful connections, security, peace of mind, good health, and a sense of flow in your everyday life.

Feng Shui is all about creating harmony in your environment by aligning it with the natural flow of Qi/Chi, or unseen energy. When this energy moves freely and purposefully through your space, it mirrors and supports the kind of life you want to create.

Rethinking Wealth in Feng Shui

In Feng Shui, wealth isn’t just about what’s in your bank account. It’s about what nourishes you. Do you feel supported? Inspired? Connected? At peace in your own space?

Financial abundance is just one expression of aligned energy. Emotional abundance, joy, calm, confidence, and love are equally important, and often the foundation for everything else.

When your environment reflects scarcity, chaos, or neglect, it subtly reinforces those patterns internally. But when your space is intentional, vibrant, and balanced, it invites expansion in every form.

The Wealth Corner: A Starting Point

One of the most well-known Feng Shui principles is the “wealth corner,” located in the far left corner of your home or in a specific room when standing at the entrance (Western Feng Shui) or in the South East area (Classical Feng Shui).

To activate this area:

  • Keep it clean and clutter-free

  • Add elements that symbolize growth and prosperity (plants, especially those with rounded leaves)

  • Incorporate colours like deep purple, green, or gold

  • Place meaningful objects that represent abundance to you

  • Hire a Feng Shui professional to help you assess the Bagua/ Flying Stars/ areas of your home

This isn’t just about placing decorations and moving furniture. It’s about setting intention. A thriving wealth corner reflects clarity about what abundance means in your life.

Clearing Space for New Energy

Clutter is one of the biggest blockers of abundance, financial and emotional. It represents stagnant energy, unresolved decisions, and holding onto the past.

Letting go creates space not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. When you release what no longer serves you, you signal readiness to receive something new.

Ask yourself as you declutter:

  • Does this item support the life I want?

  • Do I keep excessive 'stuff' because I am emotionally tied to it?

  • Can I donate some of my treasured 'stuff' to family or friends?

  • Can I take photos of 'stuff' with sentimental value and then let it go?

Does it bring me happiness or weigh me down? Space can often lead to surprising shifts in mood, motivation, and even opportunities.

Enhancing Emotional Abundance

Your environment has a direct impact on how you feel. Emotional abundance comes from spaces that feel safe and nurturing, and that keep your nervous system regulated and aligned.

  • Use soft lighting and calming textures to create comfort

  • Display photos or objects that evoke positive memories

  • Introduce natural elements like wood, water, or plants

  • Ensure your bedroom promotes rest and relaxation

  • When your home feels good, you feel good; that emotional state naturally attracts more positive experiences.

The Flow of Energy and Opportunity

Blocked energy in your home can mirror blocked progress in your life. Pay attention to:

  • Crowded entryways (which can limit new opportunities)

  • Broken or unused items (which symbolize being stuck in life)

  • Poor lighting (which can affect clarity, the nervous system and mood)

Improving these areas can subtly shift how opportunities show up and how you respond to them.

Abundance is happiness, financial security and love.
Abundance is happiness, financial security and love.

Feng Shui is not about hocus pocus. It’s about getting in sync and keeping your vibe positive. Your space should reflect your values, your goals, and your sense of self.

Take time to define what abundance truly means to you:

  • Is it freedom?

  • Peace of mind?

  • Creative expression?

  • Strong relationships?

  • Improve my health?

  • Enough finances to feel secure with a career or work that I enjoy.

Once you’re clear, and you know what you DO NOT WANT, then it's easy to figure out what you DO WANT

My spin on Abundance and Prosperity:

Abundance isn’t something you chase; it’s something you allow. Feng Shui helps create the conditions for that allowance by aligning your outer world with your inner intentions.

When your space supports you, you begin to feel more grounded, more open, and more capable of receiving, whether that’s financial success, emotional fulfillment, or simply a deeper sense of ease in your life. You become less stressed and more at ease in your life.

Start small. Shift one corner, clear one surface, set one intention. Over time, those changes build into something much bigger:  We all want a life that feels abundant in every sense of the word. Each one of us has their own idea and feeling about what "abundance and wealth" mean to them. I believe a true sense of security in life will eventually bring peace to the body, mind and spirit.

Until next time,
